Short notes on fit and fabric. We are not a warehouse and we are not a fitting room — these are the questions we get asked anyway.

Slip or chemise

A slip is a layer: bias-cut, often longer, meant to sit under a dress so fabric falls clean. A chemise is the garment — shorter, finished at the straps, worn as the evening piece. If you can see it at dinner, it is a chemise. If it is doing work under wool or silk, it is a slip.

Shapewear under evening clothes

Under a column dress, a high-waist brief is usually enough. Under a slip, choose a shaping slip so you are not stacking waistbands. Under lace, skip heavy compression — a soft sculpt bodysuit keeps the line without fighting the fabric. Shapewear should disappear. If you can see the edge, go longer or go lighter.

How to

Building a matching set

Buy the pair when the lace is the point — Savage X Fenty, Honey Birdette, Bluebella. Mix when the bra is about fit and the brief is about coverage: ThirdLove on top, Spanx or SKIMS below. Matching is not a rule. It is a look.
